Volunteering: A Way To Gain Valuable Experience!

As you make your journey toward your future career, there are a few things that you can do to set yourself apart from others to give yourself a better chance of securing the position that you want.  

One of these things is volunteering.  If your volunteer work is something that is related to your career choice, you are providing service to your community and gaining valuable experience in your field at the same time.  You may even make some important networking contacts during your volunteer work that could be helpful in securing your future career.  You may meet someone that could be used as a reference, write a letter of recommendation for you, or even be a contact person in a place you would like to work.

Employers will look favorably on your volunteer experience and see that you have a passion for that particular field.  Volunteering also says that you were willing to put in extra time and effort, demonstrating that you have a strong work ethic as well as a sense of obligation to the community in which you live.
